Buddy and Studio AI: streaming, threads, slash commands, and more

Buddy chat and Studio AI have been substantially upgraded with a set of new capabilities that make AI-assisted work faster and more interactive. Responses now stream character-by-character so you see output as it's generated rather than waiting for a complete answer. Buddy gains a multi-thread inbox so you can maintain separate conversations and switch between them at any time — conversations persist and resume exactly where you left off, even after a page reload.

New interaction patterns make it easier to work with your data: type / to access quick commands (including /compact to trim long conversations) and @ to reference entities like integrations, feeds, and storage schemas directly in your message. Mutating actions triggered by the AI now require your explicit approval before they execute, while read-only lookups proceed automatically — giving you control without friction.

  • Streaming responses: AI output renders word-by-word in real time — no more waiting for the full answer
  • Multi-thread inbox: Create, switch, rename, and delete Buddy conversations from a new sidebar panel
  • Slash commands: Type / in any AI chat to access quick commands
  • Entity references: Type @ to attach integrations, feeds, storages, and other entities to your message
  • Tool approvals: The AI asks for confirmation before taking any mutating action; read-only operations run automatically
  • Image uploads: Send images directly in Buddy chat for the AI to analyze and respond to
  • Interrupt support: Stop a running AI response mid-stream at any time
  • Skill file management: Upload, organize, rename, and manage reference files and assets attached to your skills
  • Focus mode: Open Buddy in a full-screen dialog for distraction-free AI work (Cmd+B)
